Drinkware is one of the most competitive and profitable categories on Amazon. Stainless steel water bottles, vacuum thermos flasks and coffee tumblers consistently rank in Amazon's Top 100 sporting goods and kitchen categories. But choosing the wrong China supplier can destroy your seller account — through poor quality, compliance failures, or FBA prep errors.
We've shipped FBA-ready drinkware since the early private-label wave, and the pattern barely changes: the sellers who get suspended or buried in returns almost never lose on the product itself — they lose on prep, compliance paperwork, or packaging that didn't survive the trip to the fulfillment center. So this guide is built around the three things that actually sink FBA drinkware orders, not a generic supplier checklist.
One number we put in front of every FBA buyer: in our own outbound data, bottles shipped in a fitted retail box arrive damaged about 0.6% of the time; the same bottles shipped bare in a master carton run about 4.8%. On Amazon, a 4.8% damage rate isn't a cost line — it's a stream of one-star reviews and a falling Buy Box. Retail-ready packaging is the cheapest insurance you'll buy.
The economics are compelling: factory-direct vacuum thermos bottles cost $3–6 FOB. On Amazon US, similar products retail at $18–35. That's a 5–8x markup before your margin. With proper branding and reviews, it can reach 10x. And unlike electronics, drinkware has low return rates when quality is right — meaning your seller rating stays healthy.
Best-selling Amazon categories within drinkware:

Amazon US requires Prop 65 warning labels on products sold in California (and increasingly requires them on all US listings). Your supplier must provide a Prop 65 test report covering phthalates, lead (Pb), and cadmium (Cd). Without this, Amazon can suppress your listing or issue a compliance policy warning.
All drinkware must comply with FDA 21 CFR for food contact materials. This is enforced at customs and can be requested by Amazon. Get the full STQ or SGS test report — not just a certificate image.
Each unit must have an Amazon FNSKU barcode label applied before entering FBA. Your supplier should be able to apply FNSKU labels per your shipment plan. This is standard at experienced FBA suppliers. If your supplier has never done FBA prep, this is a red flag.
Poly bags must have a suffocation warning if the bag opening exceeds 5 inches. Carton dimensions and weight must comply with Amazon FBA guidelines (max 50 lbs / 22.7 kg per carton for standard-size items). Each carton needs an FBA shipment label.
Amazon's A10 algorithm penalizes listings with high return rates. Vacuum thermos quality issues — leaking lids, poor insulation, paint chipping — cause return rates over 3%, which kills your listing rank. Target suppliers with verifiable defect rates below 0.5%.
