We Reviewed 127 Custom Orders — These 3 Shapes Reorder Most

What actually comes back for a second run, straight from our own order book.

We don't guess which shapes sell — we watch our own reorder book. Over a recent stretch we tracked 127 overseas custom orders across gift channels, e-commerce sellers and small-B wholesalers, and looked at one thing: which bottle and cup shapes actually came back for a second, third and fourth run. The answer was consistent enough that we now steer first-time buyers toward three shapes.

Across 127 custom orders, three shapes did most of the reordering.

1. The straight, simple body

The plainest shape was the quiet winner. Comparing a straight, simple cup against an irregular waisted (“hourglass”) design, the straight body had a 36% higher repeat-order acceptance rate through offline gift channels. Three practical reasons drive it:

From our order book: straight, simple bodies reorder ~36% more than waisted shapes through gift channels — mostly because they ship intact, fit a cup-holder, and print cleanly.

2. The large handled tumbler (40oz)

On the e-commerce side, size and a handle win. Across three months of our Amazon-seller order data, a 40oz handled tumbler earned about 31% more unprompted customer shares than a 20oz regular cup. Large formats photograph well, feel like more value, and are what influencers and corporate team-building buyers reach for first. If you're choosing a hero SKU for a US audience, the big handled tumbler is hard to beat.

3. The wide-mouth bottle

Wide-mouth bottles reorder because they're easier to live with — and easier to make well. In our own mould data, a wide mouth improved filling efficiency by about 42% over a narrow neck, and gave printing a larger, more forgiving canvas, which cut colour-position complaints on large runs. For buyers, that means fewer ice-jamming and cleaning frustrations; for us, it means a more repeatable order.

So what should you order first?

If you're testing a market, start with a straight-bodied stainless bottle or a large handled tumbler, a button flip-top lid (it out-reorders twist-only lids by about 23% in our data), and a clean single- or two-colour logo. Prove the shape, then expand into colours and custom moulds. MOQ is 500 pieces per design, so you can validate without a huge first order.

Tell us your market and audience and we'll point you to the exact models that reorder — not the ones that just look good in a catalogue.
