4 Ways to Put a Logo on a Bottle — Wash-Tested Side by Side

Laser, silk-screen, UV and heat-transfer, with real durability numbers from our shop.

“Which logo method should I use?” is the question we answer most. The honest answer depends on your product and how hard a life the logo will live. We run all four major methods in-house, so here is a straight comparison — including real durability numbers from our own testing, not marketing copy.

Durability: what 1,000 washes revealed

Logos fail in the dishwasher and the gym bag, not on the shelf, so we run a 1,000-cycle wash-and-abrasion test. The gap is large:

From our 1,000-wash test: a laser-engraved logo failed — faded or lifted — about 89% less often than a single-colour silk-screen over long-term use. For sport and outdoor bottles that get heavy daily handling, laser is worth the small premium.

Laser wins on longevity because there's no ink or film to wear — the mark is the metal itself. Silk-screen is excellent value and perfectly durable for everyday use, but for products that take real abuse, engraving lasts.

UV print: plan for the colour proof

UV digital is the way to reproduce gradients, photos and complex artwork. The one thing buyers underestimate is colour matching. Across 50 foreign-trade bulk orders, full-surface UV jobs averaged 2.7 proofing revisions before sign-off.

Practical tip: on a first UV order, build in a 7-day colour-adjustment window before your ship date so proofing doesn't push your sailing. Once a colour is locked, repeats are fast.

Heat transfer — including on matte

Heat transfer gives you a full 360° wrap. It used to have one weakness: it wouldn't hold on a matte finish. We learned that the hard way when a Spanish customer's batch failed because the film lifted off a matte surface. We visited film suppliers until we found a material that bonds to matte properly, so today matte-finish heat transfer is a mature, reliable option here — a combination many factories still can't do well.

One more thing: the finish matters too

Whatever the print method, the body finish affects how it survives shipping. A glossy black body shows transport scratches in after-sales claims about 34% more often than a matte finish, so for premium runs we'll suggest an individual pearl-cotton inner tray to protect the surface.

Send us your artwork and target use and we'll recommend the method that lasts — and quote it factory-direct.
